Pictures of the Landy in various stages of change

Landy steering box replacement......

Landy Rear cross member exchange 05

after lots of cutting and grinding

strange look, without the rear cross member
Replacement  fitted, jets before welding.
all welding done, next tank... which took a few tries,

Landy bulkhead exchange pictures 04

The beginning, lots of parts to take off, all bagged and marked up
Just after the old  bulkhead came out, Dan is still holding it.....

Just before the new bulkhead came in. this was day one

new bulkhead placed, and starting to bold it in
Day Two, having fun fixing the air-intake. It seems that the inner part is to be fitted to the wing prior to fixing the wing.... but with BFI it can be done after

Day Two, bulkhead and wings are fitted and secure, brake, clutch and accelerator pedals are fitted, steering column fitted and we are just having fun repairing the roof fixings.

we ended up having to open the small channel, remove the captive spring nut, and fit a plate with a rivet nut fitted (custom made)

The Next weekend, window in, floor fitted (new panels) and started on the dash assembly

first up was wiper and washer jet, vent flaps which are bolted shut using two custom made C clamps and extra fixings on the flap.

then an insulation layer of neoprene rubber

and then the dash parts, slow progress

Note the tube.....?????

That tube again (behind the heater tube)

This is all part of an ploy to improve Install door window demisting vents, as any normal car has, except for defenders.

The tube is connected to the heater duct and routes to the side of the dash....

The dash in a nearly ready state. The top dash is custom made with wider windscreen vents and no ash tray.

you can see The door window vent exiting in the grab handle (small hole under the cavity for the Land Rover Oval).

eventually a grill will cover the hole.. now only the wiring and switches

Day X, started the electrics finally.

The "old" relay board now lives in the "old" fuse location. mechanical jobs done except for  bleeding the brakes and clutch

Another Day, wiring the TDI dash...Ehm read wire, green connector ehm.

Why do we do this to ourselves ?
